Important Announcement: Introduction of the Publication Queue

To manage the increasing number of high-quality submissions and ensure a fair and transparent publication process, SIJSS is implementing a Publication Queue system and updating its estimated review timeline.

Publication Queue: What You Need to Know

The Publication Queue is a scheduling system for reviewed and accepted manuscripts. Given the high volume of submissions and limited space in each issue, there may be a delay between a paper’s submission and its official publication. Depending on the journal’s backlog and publication frequency, this delay could range from several weeks to months.

Updated Review Timeline

Due to the large volume of submissions, the peer review process will now take approximately 60–75 working days. This ensures that every submission receives a thorough and fair evaluation while maintaining our highly selective acceptance standards.

Review Status Updates:
We understand that authors are eager for updates on their submissions. However, due to the large number of manuscripts under review, we are unable to provide frequent status updates. Authors are kindly requested to wait until the 60–75 working days review period is complete before inquiring about their manuscript's status.

Transition to Bimonthly Publication

To accommodate more high-quality research and reduce wait times, SIJSS will transition from a quarterly to a bimonthly publication schedule starting April 2025. This change allows us to publish more articles while maintaining our rigorous peer review process.

Submissions received in January 2025 will be considered for upcoming issues.

What This Means for Authors
  • Publication Queue: Once the review process is completed, and based on the editorial decision, accepted papers will be assigned to an upcoming issue. Authors will be informed of the tentative publication timeline.

  • Review Timeline: The 60–75 working days review period ensures a rigorous evaluation process.

  • More Frequent Issues: With bimonthly publication, we aim to reduce backlog and improve accessibility.

  • Status Updates: Authors should wait for the full review period before requesting updates on their manuscript.

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to enhance our journal’s publication process.
